Directed by Amy Newberg this bittersweet comedy of love and second chances is one of playwright A.R. Gurney’s own favorite plays. It’s set during a cocktail party on a Boston apartment terrace. Ruth and Austin meet as strangers and soon realize that they were briefly acquainted in their youth many years ago. As they venture down memory lane, they are repeatedly interrupted by a motley crew of boisterous partiers who are quick to offer advice and disclose their own life experiences. Despite these intrusions, the larger issue remains: will Ruth and Austin have a second chance at romance?
